CBM (cubic meter) is calculated by multiplying length × width × height of a box in meters, then multiplying by the number of boxes. Example: 0.6 m × 0.4 m × 0.5 m × 10 boxes = 1.2 CBM. Sea freight is calculated by CBM (volume) and takes 20 to 40 days. It is the cheapest option for bulky goods. Air freight is calculated by billable weight (the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight = L × W × H / 5,000) and takes 5 to 10 days, but costs 6 to 10 times more. The Trans-izi simulator compares both modes for your shipment.

Incoterms (EXW, FOB, CIF, DDP, etc.) define who — buyer or seller — bears the shipping cost and risk at each stage. For example, FOB (Free On Board) means the supplier delivers to the port of origin, and you cover sea freight and insurance from there.
